What do i do with this thing? - Updated

Previous owners were an older couple that enjoyed sitting in this gazebo with their plants and relax/read. I don't have any use for it. It completely blocks the view of the backyard and it occupies the space where I want to put my patio set.

Its no cheap structure thats for sure. Its very well built, the windows all open, it has electricity, blinds on all the windows etc

Everyone tells me to keep it, but I have no use for it. My dad (old school) says to post it on Kijiji for $500 and see what happens. For someone who is looking for one its a great buy. However I don't know how the heck you would transport it without taking it all completely apart.

I even thought of moving it to a corner of the backyard where the kids can use it as a clubhouse, but even then the walls/panels have to be taken down to be able to lift it as I presume the frame is secured down within the walls.

At this point is it just scrap? Will someone be willing to take it apart themselves for the parts? Am I going to have to take a sledge hammer to it?
Ideas?

Re: What do i do with this thing?

Put it up for $200 if it's actually possible to disassemble. Hard to tell from those pics and without seeing the inside, that's worthless imo, but you never know.

I'd consider keeping it, remove the windows and make it a playhouse for the kids.

Re: What do i do with this thing?

I would like to keep it as a club/playhouse but not in that location. And moving it without disassembling it will not be an easy task.

Kijiji for sure. Someone from Hamilton will come up with his pickup full of "buddies" to haul it away.

Even if someone has a 10x10 flatbed, you can't just get a bunch of guys to pick it up.

As they mock OP for his life choices in where he lives as they make the 4 hour commute back to the outskirts of Hamilton while pissing out the lakeport on their way home into 4L water jugs. Commuter life hacks brought to you by some buddies.

That's the problem with these shed things, they are usually garbage. Try $200, if not just offer it for free just so someone else does labour to remove it.

Re: What do i do with this thing?

Thats my concern, that it will end up costing me to get rid of it. I think my only saving grace is someone who might want the materials.

Hmm I may even need to replace some pavers depending on how the thing is secured down.

grow some weed in it.

but i would throw it up on kijijijij, somebody will want it just for the windows i'd imagine. then take that money and buy the kids a proper playhouse. that's what i would do atleast.

Put an ad in the Hamilton spectator.

The ad is surely going to make its rounds through factory cafeteria.

Re: What do i do with this thing?

I listed it for $300. An hour later a guy contacts me and is interested. I told him that whoever will be assembling it will need to disassemble it so that they are familiar with the process. This thing was professionally installed by the selling/manufacturing company and I don't have any instructions. I told him he's more than welcome to come and have a look.

A few hours later 2 older brown men show up with a F150. They examined it and assessed the effort to disassemble it. We decide on $250. He gave me $50 to reserve it and they said they'll come today to pick it up.

To my surprise another guy contacted me yesterday as well.

I wanted to, but at the same time I didn't want to be greedy nor did I want to prevent people that were interested from inquiring. I had no idea what these things go for. I couldn't find anything similar online.

Re: What do i do with this thing?

Ok I got word (from my wife who is at home, I'm at work) that everything was going well. Panels are coming off one by one. But one of the guys was up on the roof and from what I was told, as soon as he "cut the glue" (im guessing some sort of sealant) the roof gave way and he fell straight down. Hurt himself pretty bad (face, ribs, legs). I feel bad for him especially since I know he is older and recovery isn't what it used to be. Man thats why I left my collapsible ladder for them to use as scaffolding.

On another note, more people are inquiring about this thing. Color me surprised.

Keep all your emails and texts and any proof that this guy was taking it down by his own choice. Last thing you want is a civil suit.

Re: What do i do with this thing?

Got home and spoke to them. The guy said he's ok but I'm thinking otherwise. he said he took a couple Tylenols and that he'll feel it in a day or two. All i need I need is for him to have a friend/relative, or even worse a doctor/lawyer put thoughts into his head.

They're going to come back tomorrow morning to grab the rest as the F150 couldn't fit everything.

With it gone, it really opened up the patio and backyard.

Re: What do i do with this thing?

They came and picked up the rest of the parts, but the guy that fell was replaced with someone else. I of course expressed my concern again. They said that the injured guy went to the hospital to get checked out ( \:o ) but apparently everything is ok. I'm guessing if I make it to September without getting a letter/call from their lawyer, I should be ok.

Funny, I had one guy contact me who was interested but said he can't make it to Toronto as he lives in Montreal. At that point I figured this is the typical scam of not being in town or he's going to ask me to ship the damn thing. It turns out he just wanted to know where I bought it from so he can order the same one

Re: What do i do with this thing?

Beats me!

I know have two different shades of stone (obviously). Where the gazebo was is practically brand new. One of the guys recommended I use numeric acid to clean them and get them all looking like new again. He warned that it is strong stuff and you should wear a mask etc. Looks like you need to be very careful handling this stuff, but people (online) that have used it say the results were great. I'm guessing a nice gas powered pressure washer would help, not sure what my Karcher can do.

Re: What do i do with this thing?

YOu mean muriatic acid? I used to use that all the time when I worked in construction, it's very strong stuff.

For interlocking a high power pressure washer will most likely do the trick (gas powered over 2k psi). The electric ones don't cut it, but again without pics not sure how bad it is.

Re: What do i do with this thing?

Yea, muriatic acid. Not sure how/why it came out as numeric.
