Unexpected UPS delivery email

Hey guys, so I get this UPS email delivery notice but I'm not expecting any packages and the address on the notice is not mine. The address is actually close to me though.

Called up UPS and the rep said it's a legit email/package (I guess there's fake ones going around). The only useful advice she gave me was that when I see it's out for delivery to call them and they can have the driver reroute it and send it back to the shipper.

Wife is saying I shouldn't do anything cuz it's not my package.

Do any of you know how an email gets tied to a package? Does UPS input that info cuz wife is thinking that someone input it wrong or is it done by the shipper?

I looked up the tracking # and it's only a pound in weight so it's not something huge... Documents maybe. Also it says it's from UPS SCS HealthCare.

I have access to change delivery options too and can have them hold the package at a UPS depot and when it doesn't get picked up they send it back.

WWYD?

Re: Unexpected UPS delivery email

I highly doubt that the email address is manually inputted, but you'd be surprised as to how archaic some processes still are.

The package isn't en route to your place though, is it? My understanding was that you just happened to get the delivery notice but since the address isn't yours I would think it is still going to the intended location.

That's correct. It's scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

Should I be worried about any hackery going on?

Re: Unexpected UPS delivery email

Similar thing happened to me.
Ordered some stuff from Home Depot.

Got a couple of emails.
Thought both were mine but when one arrived, the Homedepot label was for someone in Manitoba or something, but the UPS label had my name.

It was last summer when pandemic just started.
I called UPS and Home Depot no answer for 20 min.
I still have the box unopened lol.
It's an EGO lawnmower blade I can't use.
I also ordered an EGO part as well.
