Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but it seems that a lot of you know your stuff when it comes to cameras (and hopefully camcorders). I've never purchased a camcorder, but I'll need to record lectures over the next year and I'm looking for something that will give me good sound quality from 20 feet away in a quiet room (think university lecture hall). Having it be HD would be great, but I'm mostly concerned with the sound quality, battery life and storage (some days I'll be recording 6-8 hours of footage). Is this one any good?: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DCR-SR68-Drive-Handycam-Camcorder/dp/B0031RGKWQ Should I be buying extra batteries or is there a better solution? (I don't know if I'll have access to plug in). I would like to stay within the $300-$400 range (is this reasonable?). Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. |

I'd look into the Canon Vixia line, but maybe consider an external microphone to get it closer if you can plug one in. |

Your rode can sit on the hotshoe and is considered one of the best "budget" audio solutions. New its $150, i got mine on ebay for $100 with a free custom dead cat Looks like this (on a canon HF200) |
