Shooting at a fashion show?

So...I got photography credentials at the mecca of all fashion weeks, Orange County Fashion Week. Anyone ever do a fashion week? It will be my first. I'm using my 5D Classic and 70-200 2.8 MKII. From what I can tell...photogs can only use on camera flash if needed.

Any advice?

Don't fuck it up and report back when you're done.
I've never shot anything like that. Good luck!

Probably obvious. Maybe go on flickr and look at the exif of similar pictures to what you will be taking?

Re: Shooting at a fashion show?

you don't need a flash to shoot runway; that thing is lit. When I did it eons ago it was iso 800 1/800 @ f2.8.

advice is, do it once to satisfy your morbid curiosity and then do something else. gets fucking boring in a hurry.

i'm all for shootng fashion editorials as a creative outlet; fuck shooting runway. a monkey can shoot that shit.

I'm actually more interested in networking with people than shooting it. lol.

Re: Shooting at a fashion show?

Day 1 was the worst lighting ever! Outside with no runway lighting. We all had to use on camera speedlights.

Tonight was much better! Some runway lights, but still kind of bad.

Tomorrow is the last day. I'll post some pics tomorrow afternoon.

Re: Shooting at a fashion show?

Here are a few from last night. Lighting was still a bit rough for my 5D Classic. As long as we're not pixel peeping, I think they came out ok.

70-200mm f/2.8 MKII all at 2.8
ISO: 1000ish
Shutter: 1/400 to 1/650
