Pristine 2000 Lincoln LS for $4200, hit it?

Here's the situation. My 50yo buddy's mom bought a new car and sold her V8 LS to him for $4200. Its a 2000, 80k miles, always garage kept and driven by a little old (feisty) lady. His parents are pretty wealthy so I know the maintenance was done right and regular. He now is considering buying his sisters 03 Mustang and may sell the LS.

I currently have my trusty 03 Neon with 147k and have been considering an upgrade on the cheap. This car seems to fit the bill. Its semi fast and people will assume I paid decent coin for the car. Probably the best I'll do all around for less than 10k.

I see the Plus's:
Sporty handling with nearly 50/50 weight distribution and independent aluminum suspension bits
Semi fast
Its a Ford so parts prices shouldn't be too horrendous
As close to a 4 door Stang as I'll get and with a kid 4 doors is good
That oh so nice V8 sound...

and the Minus's:
Meh gas mileage (prolly low 20s mixed driving)
Even with all the aluminum its still a porker at 3900lbs
RWD in Ohio in the winters
Autotragic

Anybody know anything about these? Story stories?

More Jag than Ford. Parts are not cheap or easy to find.

I've never heard a good thing about them. Supposedly terrible reliability, and completely lackluster performance.

Always liked the way they looked tho ;\)

Truth be told, I secretly liked them 'cause of the headlight resemblance to the e46. But uh... yeah no.

Moot point now. Dude didn't want the Mustang so the LS is no longer for sale. :^/

My father has one and its nice. All parts come from England so beware. He had tranny trouble recently and it was a pricey fix.

The V8 is a Jag V8, not a mod motor so as mentioned parts won't be cheap. I also don't remember it being particularly quick or powerful (like 260hp?). For 4200 you could be worse. 5 years ago I bought an '03 Northstar Cadillac and some on here felt the LS would be better. In hindsight, they might've been correct.
