Food/Diet Thread

How is this which I eat for lunch 3x a week (at least)

- Slimfast Chocolate Shake (190 calories)
- 20oz of fruit salad with grapes, honeydew, cantoloupe, pineapple
- Honey roasted peanuts

I know its not much (likely 400-500 calories) but I eat that 3-5 times per week like aforementioned and usually eat grilled chicken breast for dinner and am just needing input on some other healthy but quick and easy dishes to buy/make.

Re: Food/Diet Thread

My diet is pretty plain.

Some faves:
Canned chicken or tuna with a bit of mayo and stone ground mustard
Baked chicken with olive oil, kosher salt, fresh ground pepper and balsamic vinegar
Coat chicken breasts in goat cheese (or your favorite cheese) and pistachios
Salmon with a bit of honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, olive oil and toasted sesame oil
Bacon
Pot roast with a can of mushroom soup in a crock pot for the day

Hell, you can pretty much throw anything in a crock pot and it will be fine.

How so? Protein? Check. Healthy fats? Check. Mostly low carbs? Check.

try whole food stores like Sprouts, I buy them in bulk, must be "raw" and unsalted.. I keep them in my freezer so I can grab a few when I need a snack or my fat intake for the day is low...

Re: Food/Diet Thread

Don't eat carbs for dinner unless you're gonna workout afterwards. Otherwise you'll just have carbs sitting in your stomach which will get digested when you're sleeping; aka not getting burned off. To have an effective diet, you should also time when you eat certain meals and food items.

Re: Food/Diet Thread

How's it retarded? I could have a 2000cal diet but if i ingest 1500 of those calories early in the morning before i'm active, it all goes to waste. Sure you can eat more just after you've worked out b/c your metabolism is higher than it normally is during the day. Ingesting 2000 calories slowly throughout the day usually helps to keep your metabolism active so you burn it off more effectively.

I'll rephrase the statement I made earlier. "Part of an effective diet is to time when you eat certain meals and food items". I didn't say it was the only part of an effective diet.

Just check out bodybuilding.com (which i'm sure you have). People usually list what they eat and when they eat it.

Havent eaten well today really. Well, not so much that as that I have eaten today. Just an apple with peanut butter on it around 10am and a handful of unsalted peanuts around 3:30. Im freezing and hungry so I think Im going to have a club sandwich on wheat bread with potato soup.

It depends on your routine and goals. If you are training for a marathon and doing a lot of cardio activity, carbs in the evening are fine. If you are cutting, carbs should be avoided in the evening.
