I am bought to get a new set of tires & rims. Ive got my mind made up on the rims: Konig Swurve 17x7. My question is about what tires. I am currently running Toyo Proxes 4. They were alright, but had problems with kepping them balanced, and uneven treadwear. My two concerns in tire choice are traction & treadwear (looking for about 35k miles, thats what the toyos have given me). Of the following which will provide the best ratio of price, traction, & treadwear.
The following prices are with rims, shipping, mounting, & balancing.

Falken Ziex ZE-912 $858

Goodyear Eagle GT $910

BF Goodrich g-Force Sport $884

BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S $896

Through much research i have narrowed my choices to the two above tires. Does anyone have ANY info on these tires? I am in serious need of new tires, but dont wanna drop a load of money on some tires that are going to dissappoint me. Again I am looking for traction & treadlife.

Traction and tread life tend to oppose one another. The softer the rubber, the better the grip... and the shorter the life. My honest recommendation is to look at treadwear rating for both of those tires, then read the reviews at tirerack.com and/or discounttire.com.

I am running the Falken's right now. They are a good tire. I also was running the Toyos and the 912's are TONS better. Wet traction is great and I have had no wear issues at all.

I went with Hankook Optimo 426, not bad tires. good on dry or wet road and they were only $123 each

I think the best grip for longest treadwear deal would be the bfg KDW's I got. They have pretty great damn grip and have a 300 treadwear rating. I got over 30k on them in srt4, we'll see how long they last on my si. All reviews on tirerack say everyone else has about the same experience.

i settled on the BF Goodrich g-Force Sport. I have had them on for ~1k miles, and they are awesome. So much better than the toyo proxes 4. They grip insanly well to the asphalt, and do very resepctable in the rain, esp for a summer tire. Good ride, no noise, we shall see about treadwear in time. All i want is maybe 25-30k and ill be happy. thanks for all the replies

because this is the third set of rims and tires on this civic. I had 17x8 with 225 series tires, and I HATED them. The ride, the handling, the gas mileage, the acceleration all were worse with the 8 inch wheel. just my 2cents. i am sure the majority of ppl on here would disagree.

The KDW's have such an agressive looking tread pattern, I love it.

Noticed those are mail-order tires. Where do you mount in Orange County and how much do you pay?

Nice. Used to know a Porsche guy who would do my tires in Rockland, but he went out of business.

BTW - our club is going to start holding autocrosses at the Nanuet Mall. It'd be nice to see more Si's. Right now it's only two or three an event.

Depending on where you are in Queens I would guess it is anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes. It's approximately ten minutes west of the Tappan Zee Bridge. I am excited about the site because (1) the lot is huge; (2) there is food and real bathrooms on-site; (3) it's only a half-hour from my house.

You can pre-register for the event and get more info at motorsportsne.com.

Sorry for threadjacking, but I think the OP got some good answers already.
