Even with Cobra brakes, I still manage to have brake fade when I go to high speed track such as Big Willow. Last time the pedal pressure was pretty good, but it was not biting worth of shit, so the pad was overheating. I still wanted to use HP+, because I did not want to change pads track-side, so the answer was to eliminate fog lights, and rig up brake cooling ducts. Here are some pics I took in process.
The kit came with fog light adapters, and brake ducts from Quantum Motorsports. I also called Pegasus Supply for the hose. I was going to use metal strap to hang the ducts, but ended up not using it at all, because I had to redo everything completely

This is how I did the first setup, because the hose I ordered was too short. I ended up just passing it right next to the wheel, but as soon as you would start turning in, you would contact the hose, and destroy it. Here is what happened after a week.
I went on Corner-Carvers, and looked around and realized that you have to zip the hose to the strut, to avoid the wheel contact, and pass it above the sway bar under the car, so that no part of the wheel touches the hose. Obviously, a new longer hose had to be ordered
No impressions so far, but there is no contact with the wheel either, so that's a good thing. I've got a track days coming up this weekend, so I should get some seat time, and be able to talk about the brake ducts, and how much they helped, or whether they were no help at all.

Nice. If you don't mind me asking.......how much did that setup cost? Is that some kind of ram-air setup or cooling splitter underneath the front bumber? I love me a clean SN95 5.0 GT.
It was 130 dollars for bracket and hardware and 90 dollars for the hose. I still have some hose left over. Planning on keeping it, in case or more like when I will need to patch the ducts.
The spoiler you see under the bumper is actually off 4th Gen Fbody. I trimmed it and fitted it in place of stock one, because it's like two and a half times as big as stock one. I'm planning on wrapping it all the way around to make an actual functional airdam. In order for airdam to be functional, it should be no higher than 4 inches from the ground. Mine is 2.5.
]Fucking nice, I've been thinking about trying something similar with the Talon. Post up some impressions asap.
Impressions coming monday. Spending saturday and sunday at Willow Springs.
Nice, I've been meaning to do this to my car as well. Just need to pick up the brackets.
If you don't have to, don't. It's a pain in the ass to route on a street car, ie something that will see full lock steering.

I would actually be really curious to see if any air actually goes INTO the duct. I wouldnt be surprised at all if air pressure on the brake disc side is greater than the front of the car due to swirling under the engine and radiator, so that the net effect at 45mph+ is zero cool air to the brakes.

Quantum Motorsports makes plates for F body as well, but their angle leaves a lot be desired when it's time to route the hose. They do it just to clear the sway bar end link and a few other things, but in doing so, the hose comes out almost straight into the wheel. This is why I'm saying that if you can get a pad which will handle the abuse, I would just do that.
Edit: Just googled Blaine Fab stuff. Looks pretty good. The angle looks pretty decent as well, but I still thing you will have to get creative with the hose route. I'm sure if you search FRRAX you will find a way to lay the hose. I had to search Corner-Carvers to find mine. What I like the most about that setup is that it allows you to close up the hub completely, so you don't lose much of the airflow from the duct.

Doing SOW both days. First one is some private event for BMW owners, basically a huge beginner group. I might help out with instructing if they don't have enough people, but I'm there mostly for tech. Second day is with STUSA, again tech the cars, and get some seat time, work on the lines.
I would get a bit of fade on turn 1 at willow. The car gets real sketchy, and I just want to feel like I'm using brakes, rather than gently slowing down. Everywhere else I'm ok. Did not do Cal. Speedway yet, but I'm building up towards it. Next track is probably Buttonwillow later this month. BTW, did you get AAA membership yet?

OK, the Blaine Fab duct plenums are ready to order. Patterns are made, production alpha fits fine, materials are in stock, I'm cutting and welding all weekend so kits will be ready to ship next week.
All aluminum, TIG welded .100" and .065" thick 6061
New ARP hub fasteners included
3" stainless steel hose clamps included
Install is no more difficult than a hub swap - in fact easier, since the hubs do not need to be removed
Plenums fit tightly (approx 1mm clearance to rotor) to the entire inside diameter of the inner rotor cheek, forcing the cooling air into the internal vanes where it can cool both inner and outer rotor cheeks.
Cooling air also circulates around the hub, and the aluminum plenums act as heat sinks for the critical bearing area of the hub.
Accepts standard 3" brake ducting - ducting not included. Since most cars will already have ducts of some form installed, ducting is not included in the kit, but is available as an option, or may be sourced locally.
Immediate releases will be for 2 models: the LS1 caliper on LS1 upright, and C5 caliper on a LT1 upright using Trackbrackets or similar brackets. Duct plenum kits for other popular brake packages will be released soon. Custom and one-offs available, contact me for a quote
Each kit includes a left and right pair of duct plenums, 8 new ARP hub fasteners of the proper length for the application, two 3" stainless steel band clamps, 8 jam nuts for attachment of the plenums, and installation instructions.
Recommended duct routing and things that help them survive:
shorten swaybar endlink till bar ends are parallel to track, then trim top of bolt end.
Wrap duct with gaffers tape where it passes thru the inner fender liner, where the tire tends to rub, and at the endlink.
Avoid full lock steering
squish the duct about 1/2" at the point where the tire will rub - add a wrap or 2 of gaffers tape here as wear happens
use wheel spacers to increase track width
Duct in pics has been in service for a full CMC season:

If you are talking to me then I will say that this is my daily. This is my high miler daily, that sees on average 23k miles a year (54k since Summer '06) There is no way in hell I'm gutting a daily.

Well, back from the track this weekend. I'm glad to say that the ducts are helping a good deal, but the real test will be Big Willow next year. I was getting fade at triple digits, so we will see how well the brakes will work then.
Danl: I recently purchased a large Fluidyne radiator, so that will hopefully take care of my cooling issues. The car was running hot yesterday again, but it never got over 240, so I actually managed to complete sessions this time.
