Sup 'yall? I wanted to start a thread where you can post up cool websites, flickrs, individual photos, etc... Stuff that inspires you, stuff that makes you think "yes, photography is good." We all have moments when we want to throw in he towel, so take a minute to share what inspires YOU.

Please refrain from posting dozens of images at a time, use links for huge groups of shots, etc, just be cool. \:D

To start it off, my favorite car photographers right now:

http://www.piepenburg.de/
http://www.matscordt.com/
http://romerphotography.eu/
http://www.duribeiro.com.br/
http://www.jeffludes.com/

EDIT: stickie?

but that $129 gets you around 16 hours of videos

How many of that 30 are HDR? Some look too fake to my eyes, others are just plain awesome.

I didn't see any that looked particularly cartoonish. FWIW, I've played with the HDR function on CS5 a little bit and while I haven't made any changes worth saving, it's not hard at all to avoid the cartoon halo look.

cheers,

I caught most of it live. (caught about 5-6 hours on friday, and all 9 hours on sunday)

Really good stuff. A lot of it was review for me, this would have been amazingly helpful and saved me a ton of headaches if i could have had this a year ago when i was just starting, lol.

I'm really into surf photography, that would be my dream job (besides being a pro surfer). These guys inspire me, even though I haven't been able to get to the beach much lately.

Aaron Chang
http://www.aaronchanggallery.com

Jeff Divine
http://www.jeffdivinesurf.com

Tom Servais
http://www.tomservais.com

Sean Davey
http://www.seandavey.com

Drew Brophy (he's more of an artist. he does some unreal shit)
http://www.drewbrophy.com

And I can't forget....you guys inspire me, honestly. You all have a unique style which is awesome and helps me to want to get out there and become a better photographer.

Since I'm an art school fag, I probably draw more from mid 20th century film photographers than current digital shooters. But I think these guys are all worth knowing:

Joel Meyerowitz
http://www.joelmeyerowitz.com/photography/index.html

William Klein
http://www.masters-of-photography.com/K/klein/klein3.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V_F_MDfB2g

Robert Frank
http://www.metmuseum.org/special/robert_frank/images.asp

Oh, and I heartily recommend following Magnum Photos on facebook
http://www.facebook.com/MagnumPhotos

I read a bunch of modern blogs, but usually for technical or philosophical nourishment rather than graphic inspiration. Maybe we could do a thread on that too (or add them to this one?).

cheers,
scott

this must seem cliche at this point, but after being shown Richard Avedon's work, I fell in love with it.
http://www.richardavedon.com/

I really need to play with people more. His work, while not pretty, never seemed ugly. It was just disarming.

Chase Jarvis is great because he is willing to dissect his work for us. I'm not a huge fan of the results, but seeing the process makes the whole thing more....accessible or approachable.

+1 on the Nate love. There's an awesome Jedermann quality to seeing him/you post here and then see this killer stuff posted too. rock on, dude.

If any of you are interested in learning more about off-camera lighting or are afraid of how to begin with it, get the OneLight DVD from this guy:
http://www.zackarias.com

I watched this yesterday and now everything makes so much sense. I'm horribly inspired now to get out and try to do some of what he did.

14mm, it was filmed in 2005/06, so the 14-24 wasn't out yet. He's switched over to digital now, but he was still shooting film on an F5 at the time of the filming.
