GO!
Mommadukes needs a new ride. Taking her out to drive as many cars as I can think of... she's never actually picked her own car.. and the last two that she loved, were sold off by the old man. (e36 and Z3)
She's not big on the gadgets... would like more turn nobs than touch screens if possible. Lease is also an option, going to check out some of the BMW 3 series deal they're pushing on the radio.
So far I've only got a few scheduled for her - 2 series, A3, Forester, maybe even an auto brz/86... probably be too small, but shit.. she loved those two bimmers she had and they were tiny.
Any other ideas?
What's your priority for a car, aside from price?
Are you looking for fun to drive? Status/faux baller? Reliable? Good on gas?
Cross shopping a 2 series vs. a Forester makes no sense to me, not sure how anyone can give any advice. However since none of what i said is relevant:
1992 Miata with LS1 2008 H2 Hummer 2023 Dodge Caravan 2001 Hayabusa, previously owned by a black guy preferably.
in all seriousness, i think the GTI is the best car for you. Very fun, practical, in your price range, etc.

Very happy with our prev. gen X1.
Bonus if you find one with xdrive35.
Cargo room is a bit lacking, but we managed to squeeze in luggage for 4 + stroller and a cooler for drinks for a road trip down to the states for a week.

Fun, easy to see out of, not too many buttons/electronics, and not sitting too low. This is for my mother, not me.
Yeah, I totally understand the options clashing.. but I really just want to get her out there and put her in a bunch of different cars.. all sizes and classes really. She's had it all, and like mentioned, her favourites she's owned have been an E36 and Z3...
edit: gas mileage isn't important. Reliable is, depending.. Lease isn't out of the question.

Great offer, a tad too big tho.. thanks!
Well... we started Saturday with a list of 11 cars for her to take a look at. Stop number one was Acura, TLX.
Get into the showroom, and my Mom see's a car she likes the looks of and wants to check out... loves the interior, loves driving it. Okay... it's the ILX, a bit of a step down from the TLX, but this is her choice... onto the next stop.. BMW.
Get into the lot, she looks at one as we drive by and says "I think I've made up my mind, I love that little Acura."
So, she's happy. Super happy. 3k under budget with taxes, and tint

Uh oh!
https://www.consumerreports.org/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/7-cars-owners-regret-buying/
Least-Satisfying Overall: Acura ILX
The Acura ILX is a swing and a miss, in both CR testing and when judged by owners. It falls 10 percentage points below the Mercedes-Benz CLA in the same category, itself a disappointing entry. Across all car types, the ILX has the lowest satisfaction, followed closely by the Dodge Dart and Jeep Compass. The ILX was challenged from the start as a pricey, dressed-up Honda Civic. Acura made several key updates for the 2016 model year, but even when looking at ratings on just those freshened sedans, they are no different than older model years.
Owners say: “Lacks acceleration, noisy, poor quality paint, shaky ride... very expensive for the poor quality offered.”
“It shifts too soon into higher gear, making acceleration feel sluggish unless under hard acceleration.”
“Road noise is very pronounced. I will be trading the ILX in as soon as I can on something quieter.”
It's still based on the previous civic which most people agree was a dud.

Not sure i understand correctly, but let me try.
You were going to drive 11 cars, you ended up buying the first car you saw and drove (that wasn't part of the plan) and didn't drive any of the 11 you planned to?
Do i understand correctly?

Wow... five days into car shopping and she's made up her mind and pulled the trigger? Wish all women were that great at making decisions!
ILX is a nice car - congrats to her! She found what she liked in the first one, didn't feel the need to see any more.... figured it would just confuse and make the process drag out lol
Yep, read consumer reports before hand. In the end others opinions don't count.. hers do. She loves it.

Not sure what part is confusing you.. seems like you understand to me.
nice! pic doesn't work for me, what color and package?
i wasn't too much of a loaner ILX that i had before, but the people who have them like them. White premium, picture fixed
Wasn't even on the radar.

lol... as mentioned, this was for my 65 year old Mother... my old man has always done the same as you.. that's why this was the first car she's picked out for herself.. and why I didn't push my choices on her too much lol

The ILX is nice looking but starting at $30k is a little much for a fancy Civic.
