Was watching tv prices for awhile and finally bit the bullet and purchased a new 60" plasma from BB while they're still available. So my last plasma I brought home myself and previous to that was a massive RPTV so wondering what the process is.

So they unbox the set, let you inspect it and turn it on but do they wait around for it to come up to room temp being winter and it probably sitting in the truck for hours? My current tv is wall mounted and all the connections are routed there, do they connect it to the cable or just plug the power cord to verify it turns on?

Sir I put TV here? I plug in for you? Tip please.

Pretty sure BB contracts out to the moving company with the lowest bid.

I "think" that uness you buy one of their warranty/service packages, all they do is drop it off and open the box so you can inspect it. Thats what I was told when I bought mine a few months back.

If its the same tv is mine, its a great set for the price.

Alright, just wanted to verify. So no rush for me to dismount the current tv and remove the wall mounts for the new one to go on.

When I got my plasma and av table from G&G they unboxed everything, set it up where I wanted and took all the boxes with them. No extra charge but I believe it was their guys who delivered it though not a 3rd party.

No, was tempted to go for the Samsung 5500(smart tv but it's a 2013 build) went with the 5300B (2014 build) instead. Reviews on AVS is very good and they are comparing it to the top model 8500 ($1200 more).

Calibrated screenshots (not my pics):

Is it worth it to get it professionally calibrated?

I just used some settings from suggestions on avs and to me looks pretty good. But not sure if I'm really missing out if calibrated properly.

Calibration can cost a lot but it's like a tune for a car, each one is a little different and the best way to achieve it is to put it on the dyno

Ya for calibration, I would use the settings posted on avs and tweak from there but I am cheap \:D . You can also check some blue ray movies, they sometimes have a calibration feature on them.

Titty, I think it's LCD that suffer from it but I'm not 100%

yes - absolutely worth it. It's color management and it's not really that hard to calibrate if you have the eyes and the spectrophotometer to measure the color on the tv.

Do the individual inputs all need to be calibrated separately?

I'd imagine calibrating the blue ray or dvd input would yield great results, but the TV/cable would probably still look like crap.

I used the Disney WOW disk on my tv and I'm pretty happy with the results.
