The hubby has a hard-on for these trucks, and this one is everything he wants except it's a long bed. It's a good price for our area, 220k miles, automatic and in great condition.

Its 12 years old and has 220 THOUSAND miles on it?! What did it go for new, 60 grand?

Edit: Just looked up MSRP and the fucking things went for like 26k new.

Yeah in this market I gotta believe you can do better, even if it means driving a couple hundred miles. That's mad expensive, especially since NO ONE can sell cars these days.

Yeah, if that was a gas burner she could get it for about 40 cents. On the realz, Ford dealers up here have been running commercials for brand new 08 F150s for 9,999. Granted, these are sure to be missing all the cool options but still. Brand new truck for under 10k. Wild.

That is about right on for the money. Short beds are extremely hard to come by. I found a short bed quad cab 4dr 2wd here for $5k and it was a little too rough in the body for the price, but I didn't think it was expensive.
The only issue w/ that truck is that there is a module behind the turbo that goes out, you'll know it because the truck won't start after its been driven for about an hour and you have to let it sit until it cools. Other than that make sure it shifts good if esp. if its got a 5th wheel hook up on it.

Okay, so it's now down between a 2000 F250 with the Powerstroke and a 2004 Silverado Duramax. Peculiarities I need to be aware of before I go look at these trucks tomorrow?

from the shopping i did and all the ones i've been around i'd say just go w/ the one you like. there are cheaper aftermarket parts for the ford, that year chevy is sort of bland but should hold up ok.

'04 is the LB7 correct? Might wanna check out duramaxforums.com for some more info. Pretty good site.
