Just a quickie, I haven't posted in this thread in a while. I finally caught some pictures of the Roadrunner in my back yard. Little did I know that there are two of them till just before I took this picture. They are fun to watch, they look like a little tiny T'Rex. There is one in the background too...

I like the sake shot the best but it seems like it should be a little more from the top rather than down so low. The others are a little akward and seem like the plates are unusually cut out of the photos.

Running the plates past the edge of the frame is pretty standard for serious food photography. I kind of question the focus point in the middle shot (seems like it should be farther forward and stopped down further) but that's just quibbling.

thanks for the input guys. I took several shots, top-down, close in, but not most of them looked good when I started going through them. I tried to fashion my shots after a lot of the pro food photography blogs I was looking at. Unfortunately I had to work fast because they brought everything out at the same time so I didn't have time to get too creative. That was partially my fault because I didn't tell them to put some time in between, but sushi stays pretty decent, avacado starts to turn after a while, and some of the toppings slid off of the rolls. I don't know who thought it would be good, but they brought to banana split out while I was shooting so I had to stop what I was doing and start shooting that before it melted, which it did rather quick. Sucks... I may have to reshoot some things. Personally, I'm not really satisfied with pics myself. I think I didn't get enough detail in them, but then again, I'm also zoomiing in and critiquing it. Maybe I need to look at the overall photo???

Yes, I'm aware of that. What I'm saying is the spot in which they are running out of the photo is odd.
