If I was a PS pro like Fil I'd open the RAW file in PS and lower the exposure to bring out more of the sky. Then I'd copy that sky into the normal exposure and have a good pic. But I can't do that

This image is literally 100% untouched. No crop, no editing PERIOD, no sharpening nothing. Just conversion from raw to jpg 1024 on the long side. I believe it. The bird isn't even facing the camera. That image quality is why the owner spent $2500 on the lens.
I have one with the bird facing the cam but it just wasn't as sharp and vibrant. Will process the one with the bird facing the cam later.
And yeah he spent 2k. What an incredible lens though.

Bill, that sky probably isn't salvageable, BUT that's ok, because cropping out most of the sky and that sliver of boat to the right would work just as well - just make sure to give yourself a little cushion above the fish's face - but don't feel bad if you have to trim into the fisherman's elbow, that's ok.

Scott, when I do the preview mode in PS (Before actually opening the RAW file) I can bring down the exposure and the clouds are dark and grey and pretty cool looking.. I've opened the file with the lower exposure, set a threshold layer to try and just select the clouds but things still aren't lining up all that good
:EDIT: I cropped it like you suggested, looks pretty good and gets rid of the blown out sky.
