Aren't you terrified of dropping your camera in the water? There are so many water-related shots I'd like to take, but I'm scared I'll dunk the 5D.
Not really.. The strap is wrapped around my hand, I'm in about 1-2ft of water kneeling down, no real risk as long as I use my head. the pivoting LCD on the 60D is REALLY useful in a situation like this.
I also have rider insurance on all my stuff. It goes in the drink, I get a new camera.

To me it does. Reminds me of when I go crazy with the highpass overlay.
That being said, I think you could do a 'gloom and doom' version and make it super badass looking.

Cool, maybe I'll have to make a thread and ask a few of you pros about other perspectives I should try and capture. I feel like all I do now is stick the camera in the fishes face, or get pics of my buddies holding them. I don't wanna get stuck in a rut like that.

aw shit, I just opened a 500px acct. Not sure why, though...those sites sort of irritate me. I never got into flickr, either. coloradophotographer is my username, lol.

When you ain't selling much, "popularity" is the next best way to find out if people like what you're serving. Unless you're creating strictly historic documents (this is what x looked like at y time), everything about photography is trying to please the viewer - maybe not all viewers, but some.

And I don't think it's because my pics are bad, it's just that others spend much more time than I making themselves more popular with the social networking features of those sites. The more groups you click on flickr, the more views, the more "nice capture!" comments you get...but that gets old for me...searching for groups to join just to get people to look.

That's the upside to 500px - no groups. The downside is that images you love and consider portfolio worthy may still get ignored while your cute shot of a dog that had a ton of crap in the background so you vignetted the fuck out of it is the only thing anybody appreciates. That can be exasperating.
