not entirely. shooting video with the t3i sucks because it isn't as fast focusing like a higher end dslr. plus as stated, i didnt have the right shutter speed that I wanted

If you're shooting at 60fps, then your shutter speed should be 1/125.

Try not to use auto focus while shooting video. Either get great at manual focusing or shoot with a deep enough depth of field to avoid changing focus during your shot. It's slow and going to hunt no matter what body you're using.

Video is different in that you're not going to freeze the action in a still by upping the shutter speed. I wouldn't consider pulling stills on a dslr to use as photo replacements.

It's a concrete walking path that follows the river. We tried to do the walk but in 100+ degree heat we don't get very far, so I'd suggest doing it on a cooler day. It's worth the trip, the buildings are really cool.




Thanks for the info. I've not been to the River Walk in a long time. The only Mission I have been to is of course The Alamo.

I know its "post one random shot...", but here's three from my morning at Great Falls, VA.

When we arrived the fog was so thick, we couldn't even see the water. As the fog burned off, the river and trees emerged.

Nice pictures man! Great Falls used to be my stomping grounds for both running and photography! I still have two pictures of the falls hanging in my apartment today:





I was back in Virginia about 6 weeks ago and tried to go again but there was a line of cars out to Georgetown Pike so I went up to Riverbend Park instead and just hiked around there.

It probably is. There are 3 platforms for viewing the falls. This was taken on the furthest platform from the visitors center.

A friend of mine's GF did our newborn photos this weekend. The shoot was free so long as I did the editing, and asked me if I wanted to try her D600 out for a couple shots. So because I can't not share baby photos right now...
