My girlfriend texted me this morning:I hit 60 [miles] this past week with one day off and one 30 min day. Hoping to be closer to 70 this week! I don't track mileage but I reminded her that she's p acing me next month and not r acing me. She doesn't get bonus points for dropping my ass along the way Are you guys both running Quad Dipsea this year?

Nah, she has no interest in trail running...she fears her lack of coordination would put her in danger, and I hate to say I agree.
Her focus is setting another PR at Boston in April. I'm sure she'll do it, and she may even max out at 30 miles a week this time around. Lol.

OK, so my question was poorly worded but I meant to ask whether you and ampsman were both running Dipsea this year.

With that in mind, when I read your response about "she has no interest in trail running...lack of coordination" I was "What in the creepy fuck?! How does he think he knows these things about my girlfriend??"

But eventually I got it and

Did she really BQ and run Boston on < 30 miles a week??

Thanks guys! Never knew I had it in me.

Achieved a personal goal and squeezed out a sub-2hr half marathon. Final time: 1:58:52. Congratulations man! Were you running pretty even splits or did you have to hustle the last mile or two to make it under 2:00?
Funny story. I started off doing 9:15/mi until I found a fellow coworker at the end of mile 2. Paced ourselves at 8:50 the next three miles, then eased to just under 9:00 the rest of the race. I think I dropped off a few seconds the last couple miles. But I honestly don't think I would have made it without him kicking my tail.

LA Rock & Roll is in two weeks. May try for 1:55 if I can sync with the official pace group. But I'll be happy just finishing the race in one piece.

I will also say I really enjoy reading everyone's stories & accomplishments here. Helps keep me motivated - especially during my longer runs.

Haha. Suckaz. I've had a "winter beard" pass. I mean she bitches, but it stays. Signing up for another 1/2 in dec. this will be my first time doing two halves in a year.

However I've been told I can't do the 50k in march I want to do. (We're expecting in April so that's fair).

Haha. Short beard gets scratchy complaints
Long beard(well not long, but longer) gets gross complaints

But I get away with it.

Yeah, excited. Shopping for running strollers(some are convertible for CC skiing too, sweet)

what? why cant you do a race before the baby is born? you're not going to have time after its born so do it now? that sounds pretty fucked up.

Haha. No worriesGotta remember my number one hobby is snowboarding. So I'll be riding every weekend. I also teach snowboarding.
In addition, I'm taking professional certs
Remodeling our home(i.e building the nursery)
 other hobbies(brewing beer)
 etc.

Honestly, I probably don't have the time. I tend to be the type that has more ideas/hobbies than time. I also want to climb a mountain or two. I could chose to do the race rather than teach snowboarding I"m sure. but both is probably overkill. I've got to pick what I can accomplish. It's by no means her restricting me, just being realistic. She said she hated saying "no", I believe that. She's the one that pushed me to do things rather than just wanting to do them.

Effortless my @ss. Damn good time for 16 miles.
I don't know how but scored another 13.1 miles in just under 2hrs tonight. If all goes well I'll attempt another personal best in LA. Guess it's time to taper down for next Sunday.

 Lol, it's all relative man.
Back in January I was doing 20 milers at sub 7 pace while I was trying to BQ. Not sure where that speed has gone, but I'm running strong and healthy so I'm not complaining.

wow...well that was an interesting experience.Did another 50k yesterday.
The race was two 25k loops with about 3700 feet of elevation per loop, each loop starts with a 1.3 mile climb of 1000 feet.
I felt pretty good going into the race despite having a cold the whole week before and thought I had a chance of doing pretty good.
Looking at the course info I saw that the aid stations were only 5 miles apart so I thought I would be fine with one handheld, that proved to be mistake numbed one.
It started off pretty chilly at the start but quickly warmed up and the course was very very exposed.
The 25k and 50k runners all started off together, two guys went out super quick and I settled in with a pack of guys right behind them.
I power hiked alot of the initial hills and felt like I was going at a good pace.
I cruised with a group of 3 other guys for most of the first loop and finished in under 2:30, I realized at that point that I had went out way to fast and also hadnt been keeping up with my calorie intake (I think I had 3 gu's on that first loop).
I hit that big 1000 foot climb again, it was hot and exposed and I was toasted.
I made it to the top finally and started cruising down but just didnt feel right even on the nice shaded downhill section.
My breathing was getting shallow because I was coughing whenever I tried to take a deep breath.
I made it to the 19 mile aid station in pretty rough shape. I pounded a gu and almost puked it back up but was able to wash it down.
I trudged out of there to tackle another big climb and try to make it 5 more miles to the next aid station.
This section was kind of a blur and actually seemed like it went by fairly fast.
I rolled into the 24 mile aid station and was ready to call it a day, I couldnt even think about another gu and just ate a bit of watermelon and filled up with water because the thought of electrolyte drink made me want to puke.
I left and headed right up another climb. Totally defeated at this point. I made it about 3 miles and realized something really wasnt right, I was super light headed and really nauseous. I was completely alone on the trail at this point and had no idea how far back the next runner was.
I decided to sit down for a minute to try and pull my shit together, I was only 2 miles from the final aid station but not only could I not imagine going 2 miles, the thought of simply standing up was almost unbearable.
I decided to lay down for a minute. I put my bottle down and layed my head down on it. I remember slipping out and jerking awake and telling myself I cant fall asleep out here.
The next thing I remember is a runner coming up and shouting at me and asking me if I was ok. I jerked up, completely startled.
I explained to him what happened and he said he was going to go to the next aid station and tell them to send someone.
At this point I was standing back up and felt alot better. I told him I thought I could start walking and try to make it there myself. I looked at my watch and I estimated I was asleep for about 30 minutes.
I started walking and eventually jogging and actually caught up to the guy who had stopped and rolled into the final aid station, feeling better but still in a fog.
I pushed myself harder than I should have the last 2 miles trying to make it to the finish and felt really sick again when I finished.
 But i had done it.

 Cant wait till dipsea.

heres the elevation profile from this beast.
