Overlooking the Tanana Valley, after the storm. Wife likes color...  parksvista by davedawsonfbks, on Flickr I like black and white.  parksvistabw by davedawsonfbks, on Flickr It's been raining for damn near two weeks and finally started to stop last night.
I like the color version, but it has a technicolor look to it. and i like contrast and this looks to be lacking contrast.

i was far away, i had to zoom in a bit since i had to have the lens between two people's heads while elbowing some kid in the temple. i had my media vest on but was unsure of the areas where i was permitted (this shot was 5mins after i got out to the main action area).
i'll put up some more shots Bill. still editing right now

I like the color version,
I prefer the color version as well, but the dust spots are really distracting. Content Aware Fill should fix them fairly easily. Get that sensor cleaned skierd.

highlights were blown out, tried to recover as much as possible... yeah, don't know what was up with the dudes tux. He had problems all day with one of the sleeves, kept creeping up, and his shirt seemed to be too long. I was second'ing this wedding, so this isn't the final image being sent to the B&G

Nice one Ty. I think next time you should shoot with a faster shutter speed to try to really freeze the mud/water flying through the air. Also, looks like the truck itself is a bit blurry, but not really in I guess an "interesting" way. Definitely faster shutter on this kind of stuff, that will make a night and day difference. How fast was the truck going would you suspect in this shot?
General rule of thumb I guess would be to use a slow speed (20th-80th) for panning or any time you are moving your camera, and a fast speed (250th and up) when you are not moving your camera.
I also think you could probably crop this image a bit, I feel like it's tight on the left so the extra space on the right throws it off balance. Just a thought. Totally not trying to over critique, but I feel like you're getting it more and more with each time, so keep at it man. It's working.

If there's a lot of light, you should be able to crank that shutter speed way up before the ISO goes crazy.
