while reading back thru one of Nate's threads and looking at Adam's pictures, i decided to try two new techniques for my pictures that I am liking. in one of adam's pictures, i noticed that he uses multiple filters. i added in a satin filter along with a gradient filter. from nate's hdr thread, i noticed that he converted him images from 16bit to 32bit along with him increasing the noise in his pictures
sadly, i need to get better with using the clone stamp tool. i wanted to take the pole out of the picture. it took away from the rock pile (at the course, it's far away from the track but tall enough due to the lay of the land that it interferes badly with any picture of the rock wall). you can see my mistake with the clone stamp tool

read up on the healing brush too. I use a combination of both to clean stuff up like that. sometimes the clone will get it roughed out, and the healing brush will smooth out the colors/areas/etc. Texture tends to kill it for me in Aperture though, I should test it out in PS more. Aperture does a bad job of repairing/healing textures, and it looks obvious.
I removed something in this, can you tell what it is without clicking the link below? It's obvious to me, and once you see what it is I'm sure it'll stick out and you'll see the artifacts as well. I was rushing through it and probably should have taken some more time. Maybe even started fresh. AEM might be using this in a blog post or release or something about this car.

his shadow is short because of the sun position. it's about noon in this shot. the darker sky to his right is the part that bugs me, i just couldn't manage to get that averaged out

Cool pic, but it seems a bit overcooked.

Recovered a bunch out of the shadows so its a little noisier down there than I'd like, but i was going for a rich saturated look.

I think you recovered it too much and overly saturated it, to be honest. You've got some haloing going on, which usually comes from adjusting highlights/shadows together in excess.

Yeah, tone mapped like whoa and the shadows are hella noisy.

I prefer the 1st one, but it's one of those photos were I feel like it should be in the left "third", or dead center. I'm leaning towards dead center. And I like the space, just don't like the hand over her mouth.

Got credentialed for the AMA flat track finals this past saturday. That was good fun, getting down on the dirt apron. It's a 1/2 mile track, this guy won the race and would have won the series, had he not been black flagged at an early race for his engine smoking. He finished 3 points behind the new series champ. bummer, he narrowly missed it last year too. Harley has dominated racing with the XR750 for decades now. For a few years now people have been toying with Kawasaki's and have been super competitive. This guy rides for a team led by a guy who has deep family roots in Indy and F1 racing. He shut down the team last year after not winning, said he had sacrificed too much time with his kids to be successful, but then came back. Will be interesting to see what happens in 2015.
A Harley won the series this year. Again.

Thanks man. Pretty high iso, 6400 on the d700 I think? Just fine for web use. Would have been nice to drop that a tick or two and use a longer exposure, but still have a lot of panning practice to do.
