i did this on my friends integra. just grab a shitty socket slightly bigger than the lug, heat that fucker up on the stove (i used a propane torch) hold it by the extention and hammer that bitch on and let it cool. lug nut cranked right off.

I did that. I used a 12 point socket instead of the usual 6 point. Made it a bit easier.

One socket, one hammer and a breaker bar and off came the lock nut. Makes you wonder why we bother with those damn things since it's so easy to remove them without the key.

it's true. i always wondered if that gator socket thing would just take them right off.

That's crazy. How long ago was this? These things kept jumping up in price...and it hasn't stopped!

i know right? this was back in the day, about 2006/7. my mom had just bought her 05 rav 4 brand new and i took it back for an oil change and saw it on the lawn. it was in fantastic condition, no rust, all trim, no rips or anything on the interior...fuck i should have bought that but poor teenager.

Front and rear diff fluid
xfer case fluid
brake fluid
tranny fluid
rotors & pads x4
serpentine belt & new tensioner
radiator
4x new struts
rear tailgate struts
alignment
not to mention 2x sets of new tires (summers & snows)
tension rods
tension rod bushings
ball joints

water pump, coil packs and plugs are next on the list to be done in the next couple months. Everything with OE parts and OE fluids. Those are obviously all maint. add in mods etc and whew, the list grows a lot. As does the cost XD

u take good care of your car \:\) unlike most bmw owners outside of warranty i'd suspect. i did all the work within 5 months of ownership \:\)
As for brake bleeds i beat you there too. 4x within the last 5 months. Also 3x oil changes within the last 5 months XD XD
I am not counting the stuff i do for track, so i took those out.

As for rotors, i moved to 335 setup, and they are like 800usd for a 2 piece front rotor setup. Similar brake costs \:D

What year X3? These guys are just mentioning regular German maintenance items lol. Still have to deal with all the oil leaks (valve cover/tranny pan/oil filter housing/crankcase vent valve/axle seals) and even broken coil springs in the rear (depending on year).

I just had to do an axle seal earlier this year, luckily I caught it before the front diff was empty. There is no sensor in the diff for low fluid \:o
