Technically different days. This image, used in one of the csi photo contests, originally had an obnoxious halo around the pyramid. Layers made it a piece of cake to correct (though I also reduced the contrast in the clouds).

I played with them, they get all funky and banded very quickly - particularly if you try to remove the color cast from the clear parts of the sky. I worked on that layer from scratch twice and finally decided that low contrast/low saturation worked best. If my post skills improvement over the next year is similar to the last year, maybe I'll turn out something better next year.

Doh. I've got my cameras set up not to fire without a card - I'm pretty sure you can do the same for Canons.

The camera shows a warning, and thought it was set that way.

Sorry about the wide open lens and focus. That direction isn't the best as far as neighbors.

This is Canyon Dam in Central Texas. I wish I could've gotten up on the dam for pictures, but the signs say to keep off of it. I didn't edit the picture, the grass is really that green there.

f/5.6 would have blurred the trees in the background out a bit more, but just a bit since he's relatively close to them compared to me. I had been shooting a bridge over the Mississippi when this guy landed and I just turned and shot, not smart enough to open it up.

If somebody would like to donate a 400 f/2.8 or 600 f/4, I'll gladly take it and I promise to improve the bokeh in all my shots.

There is a stump like that in the valley behind my house.

Need to stand on a chair or use the neighbor's yard because of all the growth. Looks like a jungle. I'll try to get a shot tomorrow afternoon.
