i think i'm going to go buy my 17-40 back tomorrow. i really miss having a wide angle. I uwa lenses. The only thing that makes me sad about them is that you have to be right THERE where the action is to make them work right, and that's not always possible. And very occasionally, the perspective distortion will ruin a shot - but usually it doesn't.
Funny that you guys are talking about this. I got some Amazon gift cards for my birthday and I've been browsing UWA's all week.

 Anyone tried the Rokinon FE14M-C 14mm F2.8? I'm curious.

No experience with the Rokinon, I plan to pick up the Canon 14mm 2.8 around christmas since it is on Canon's Mail in Rebate program for $200 off. If you pick it up let me know how it works out. I'm particularly interested in how well it looks in the corners since I'm full frame.

What happens when you have 5 seconds of sunlight and want to make use of it + the strobe is not seeing the details that should've been spotted. Pretty big error actually.

I like it as well. I like the shadows and the vertical lines. The subject is ever so slightly washed out by the strobe, more of a highlight really. Looks good.
interesting. looks fine on both my monitors.

Sorry, maybe washed out wasn't a good choice of words. What I mean to say is I like the highlights on her upper arm and face.

Yeah, went anti-blue and tried to make the clouds slightly more dramatic and I cleaned up the reflection a little bit so it looked.....pointier. It looks great on a big screen at full res.
 My photoshop king-fu <<<<<<<< Yours.
Word, it would probably be cool in full B&W, I think it's gott be saturated or not at all but that's just my $0.02

 PS: what's king fu?

What are we looking for? The way her boots and jacket blend into the background? If so, i dig that.
I agree, it's cool. The colors are kinda dead though, might try B&W on this one as well.

 Nate

If she was naked, this wouldn't be a problem.

won't stay colour :p posted it cuz the stylist wanted to see it so i just converted it to jpeg and fired it off. that shot screams b&w (which is why i picked that location cuz it's all monochrome)

Going with the light trails theme...

dammit fuckers!
i know i said i was going back to the 17-40, but after playing around with the 35 1.4 on these last few shots, i think i've gotta go wider at 1.4, so i think i'll grab the 24 1.4..... wish they had a 14 1.4

this one was at 1.4, iso2500 and 7 seconds

Why are you shooting those at f1.4?

(500/focal length) is the rule of thumb for shutter speed to avoid star trails so for a 24mm lens you're looking at about 21 second exposures max. Faster lenses = more stars and lower ISO with no motion blur.
