I am due for a new laptop, I've looked around and I am not sure if I am making the best decision so I need input.
It has to be from bestbuy as I have a gift card to the store that will cover most of the cost, it has to be under $800 taxes in (I am flexible if it gets me everything I want).
Must have:
15" screen Long battery life keyboard with number pad quiet keyboard
Nice to have:
Lenovo (I might be off my rocker here, but I've had great success with Lenovo for close to a decade and am somewhat brand loyal, unless you convince me otherwise - have had Dell/Toshiba/HP in the past)
In addition, are docking stations for Lenovo at all interchangeable?
I don't need it for gaming, it's strictly for pushing excel/photoshop/internet.
This one seems to fit the bill, but from what I gather it's geared towards gamers and battery life is average, everything else is right up my alley
Lenovo G50 15.6" Laptop - Black (AMD A6-6310 / 1TB HDD / 8GB RAM / Windows 8.1)

I don't really want to carry kne around that's for sure. Notebook reviews said the batter lasts over 5 hours without playing games, if that's true I can live with it but would prefer longer and definitely don't want to carry an extra battery.
No way I am doing external number pad.
Furbal what was sluggish about the Lenovo? Reviews say in the price range it's one of the quicker ones. I am also open to throwing in a ssd as well.
Which Asus would you get in the price range?

SSDs are cheap, there's no reason to run a standard spindle HDD anymore. I wouldn't worry about ordering it with a SSD though, just get one off Newegg and install once you get the machine.
The bonus of this is that you can remove all the bullshit bloatware as well that comes with the factory install.

BB site is down for boxing day "prep" can't wait to line up starting today at 1700 to get my laBtop. Dec 24th - 3am EST Site closed to get the site ready for our Boxing Day SALE! browse Dec 24th - 5pm EST Site opens so you can browse the DEALS! open Dec 24th - 8pm EST Boxing Day SALE STARTS! Just read this, it's so fucking excite, wow.
It's very easy with software like Macrium Reflect. I have used it numerous times to clone drives, even going from 500+ gb drives to 128gb SSD drives, Macrium sorts out the partition sizes accordingly.
I have used others in the past like EasUs but find Macrium the best.
Even if you do a reinstall from scratch, software like DriverBooster will go out and update almost all the drivers on your laptop without you doing a thing. It's a must have.

The ideal way is to rip out the old HDD, plug both the NEW and the OLD into a desktop, and clone the drive. It's a pain ... How big of a pain is it to reinstall win 8 on a new ssd?
times have changed. Plug new SSD into USB enclosure, run Macrium relfect from Windows, select source and destination disk, let it do it's thing and after a short while swap the new HDD into the destination laptop and away you go.

Thoughts on this drive?
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.asp...#scrollFullInfo
What is mSata? platter driver?
Watched a bunch of reviews on youtube, one thing that stood out is that it has cheap hinges. I've seen shitty laptops with finiky hinges and that would really annoy me especially if it's touch screen. Anything that can be done about that? Should I even run win 8 on it or go back to 7?
edit: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK i saw this ultrabook x1 now and i want it BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD.... no numberpad doe, fak

mSata is chip based like SSD only no big enclosure, and about 1/3 the size so its more like a piece of ram.
The best SSD to get are Samsing bar none. Always score very high.

Too fob I only know BiWay.
Gonna buy a laBtop from cash converters, thanks for all the amazing help and advice.
Has anyone bought online from bestbuy.com and have it shipped here? They have a wider Lenovo selection.
