The GS430 has the stock 17" wheels, and somehow all four wheels are curbed, two are severely curbed. They're so bad I can't do anything with them, so I'd like to replace them with something VIP-ish like 20's with a 4" lip.
The stock wheels look like the ones below. To me they look like Maxima 7 spoke wheels, which is ok, on a Maxima.
I can get the same 7 spoke reproduction 17" wheels, in silver, for $138 each.
I'm leaning towards buying the older style 5 spoke 17" wheels painted silver like the ones below for $204 each.
I think you should jump up to 18s, those 17s look like little caster wheels under a black sofa. I'm guessing there's probably a metric shit-ton of aftermarket 18s made for your car, and tires won't be that much more.
I'm actually pretty surprised how decent the 17's look. 17's looks kinda small on a lot of mid-sized cars now and that GS is a fairly large.
You also have to think about the style you want if you go aftermarket. Wheels with defined lips often look small than wheels with spokes integrated to the lip.
5 spoke aftermarket 18's do look better, I'll agree. The downside is it will impact the ride quality some, plus I'll have to buy new, more expensive tires. This is the daily driver so long term costs are heavy on my mind, along with not modding the car out. I want it to look like a stock lexus when I go to sell it some day, not a kid's VIP'D OUT mid level luxury car.
The car currently has almost brand new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires which are $178 each on tirerack. I'd like to keep these tires...
