Shit for horsepower and it's a total pig. But My Audi TT is only 200 and I'm happy with its power. I won't touch the engine because I'm at an point where I don't care anymore. I just still really love these cars and I'm not convinced the premium for a twin turbo one is worth it for me.
Also, how long can these n/a 2j's run for if I'm just putting around like an old man? Are they pretty easy to work on? t-belt and water pump and shit like that all up front and fairly easy to access?
He used to be a regular on here. He can tell you all about these cars, since it's his bread and butter, and the reputation of the shop speaks for itself. They also do NA-T combos all day long, and have great results with them.

thread title had me picturing a 2001 Golf/Jetta with the most boring drivetrain ever. Glad I was wrong, but in some ways this is worse - all the show, none of the go.

Still pissy after all these years...
At least the NA has some potential for a bolt-on turbo and some extra powaz. CL is blocked @ work, but if it's a nitrous car, I'd plan on rebuild or have a junkyard 2j on hand to rebuild in your spare time, and eventually swap in.
(Is a 12.5:1 2j an option? I bet it would be tons of fun)
