Been wanting to change up the patio door since we moved in. Original was very heavy for the kids to open and quite drafty in the winter. Always wanted French doors and finally got around to getting quotes and debating between styles. We initially thought of getting the built in blinds but the wife nixed the idea after looking at a few. Was a bit annoyed at the process in that outside of the box stores, I couldn't get a price for the door and rough estimate for the install without someone coming to view it first and then give me a crazy price afterwards wasting my time.
Even with the box stores, home depot gave me a price that was more than twice what Lowes who we finally went with gave. HD said door was not standard even though i measured it as such myself and said their guy would do laser measurements but only came with a roll up tape measure.
Anyways happy with the job Lowes did at a price much cheaper than the rest.

Nice! I gotta swap my rear patio door as well, it doesn't even come close to sealing properly.

Good job, well worth it.
I am largely triggered by the fucking table tho, first it's not symmetrical to anything on purpose and in the second pic looks like you are trying another just as fucked up orientation. It's driving me crazy.

Ya the table set up in the first pic was the wife's idea, it actually did give you more room when walking out from the left side of the sliding door. Second pic we just put the tables and chairs back on the patio after the workers were done, no real set up done there.
Loudsubz, there are screen options for French doors that we will look into next year. Doubt we have any warm days left that I would be leaving the door open anyways.

Im in the minority, I cant stand my french doors in the new house. They dont let in as much light, they take up space when they swing open and they arent as wide as a slider.
Old house had a huge 8 feet wide and tall sliders. I liked them way better.

Side question, what is the hosting company that you've hosted your pics with? ibb.co? Malware protection blocks that site by default.
Tinypics was flipping the pics and i couldn't adjust so i googled and grabbed the first free hosting site.

I get what you are saying, it does let in less light but I think it improves the overall look of the room. I've seen a few houses that have a wall of windows that open up accordion style, that would be bomb to have.
Nice upgrade OP! I want to do that as well but I can't swing the doors inwards because of a table in the breakfast area. Mind if I as how much this cost?
Total cost was $1,757 including tax and labour. There was a sale on the door, 15% off sale on labour and a no tax weekend event when we went in to pay. Locks and handle included in total but chosen separate, it came up to $157 or so.
